What is 10/10/10 and what are we doing?

On 10/10/10, grassroots groups worldwide will be hosting events as part of a Global Work Party. So far, 4,318 events have been registered in 173 countries. This global movement is being organized in part by 350.org, and by 1010global.org. The Global Work Party recently received an endorsement from Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General at the United Nations, who said "it's time for us to roll up our sleeves and get to work."

Last year, events were registered in 181 countries, and CNN called it the "the "most widespread day of political action in the planet's history."

This year, we're creating an event to represent Ottawa. Join us on Sunday, October 10th, 2010 to celebrate sustainability in the nation's capital.

We'll be hosting speakers, including mayoral candidate Clive Doucet. We hope to bring you some musical acts as well. We'll be showcasing pledges from Ottawa residents, telling how they'll reduce their carbon footprint in 2010-2011.

Submit your own pledge! Get creative: we'd love to receive drawings, paintings, photos, creative writing, or any other creative submission you can think of. We're building a mosaic of pledges to show off to the world.

In return for pledges from Ottawa residents, we'll be giving away up to 200 black walnut tree saplings in Spring 2011.

Location to be announced very soon! Hold on to your hats and check back for updates!
